About us

Song07 - Who and Why?

Song07 is a brand new singer songwriter festival for an audience of 10,000, which will take place in the Pennine Hills near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

The festival is aimed at at all ages - couples, families and music lovers in general who want to come along and see some of the world's finest singer songwriters and musicians at a safe, people friendly festival.

‘The Song Club’ was started in Leicester in 2005 by Gaz Birtles, a well known local musician and celebrity (Swinging Laurels, The Beautiful South) and instantly became a local success. From here the idea of a festival emerged…

‘The Song Festival’ is being organised by experienced music industry professional Simon Foster, and David Stead, the drummer from The Beautiful South, both of whom have spent their entire lives working in the music industry and had always wanted to bring something to West Yorkshire. David was born in Huddersfield and Simon currently lives there.

Grassroots level with a contemporary feel

Its our first year and we want to get it right so we can come back and do it in 2008, 2009… you get the picture.
